A budget you can keep in your head
PYB works out what you can safely spend this week, shows you that one number, and stays out of the way.
Budgeting apps usually fail the same way. You categorise three months of transactions, feel briefly organised, then stop opening it. PYB is built around the assumption that you will not do any of that.
One number
Money in, minus what is committed, divided by the days left. That is the whole calculation and it is the whole screen.
Bills are not spending
Rent and the phone bill get set aside before the number is worked out, so a big direct debit on the 3rd does not make the month look ruined.
Nothing to categorise
There is no taxonomy to maintain. Spending is spending. You already know whether the coffee was a good idea.
Read-only bank access
PYB can see balances and transactions. It cannot move money, and there is no code path in it that could.
Works offline
If your bank's connection breaks, enter the balance by hand and everything still works. It is arithmetic, not magic.
Honest about payday
Tell it when you are next paid. Most of the stress in a budget is not knowing how far away that is.
